A taxi driver sitting in the backseat of his cab parked the northeast corner of Ann and Nassau Streets was punched and dragged out of his cab by a man who then took the wheel of the Acura and began to drive off, police said. The 29-year-old cabbie, though, was able to scamper back into the backseat before the car gained speed. The carjacker then drove to the Bronx, cabbie in the backseat all the while. Once parked, the cabbie, a Brooklyn man, jumped into the driver’s seat and drove off. The cabbie sustained injuries to his upper lip, nose and neck.

Boutique Bandit Busted

At 6:55 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, an 18-year-old man removed a jacket and jeans from the Webster clothing boutique at 29 Greene St., tried to leave the store but triggered an alarm. The man, later identified as Mac Worrell, was confronted by a store security officer and a scuffle ensued. The suspected thief was collared by a police officer and the merchandise recovered. The Givenchy jacket pair of Amari jeans were together priced at $2,710. Worrell was arrested and charged with robbery.

Eye-opening Crime

At 2:43 p.m. on Sunday, June 3, a 40-year-old male employee inside the Ilori Optical store at 138 Spring St. observed a man in his 50s on store surveillance video removing merchandise while a suspected accomplice stood shoulder to shoulder with him as he concealed the property in his jacket. The pair then left the store without paying but were picked up in the neighborhood by a police officer. The stolen glasses included a pair of Chrome Hearts valued at $1,920, another pair of Chrome Hearts priced at $1,595, and a pair of Cartier glasses tagged at $820. Antoni Rybiniski, 52, and Zofia Czarnecka, 46, were arrested on grand larceny charges.

Stolen Bike

The inventor who devises an impenetrable bicycle lock should receive a special award. At 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, a 48-year-old man locked his bicycle with a rope lock to the bike rack in front of 233 West St. in Hudson River Park. His $1,600 Specialized was gone when he went to retrieve it an hour later A search of the neighborhood proved fruitless.

Wallet Lifted

If you don’t pay attention to your belongings a thief undoubtedly will. At 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 3, a 26-year-old woman was in the club room in the SoHo Grand Hotel at 310 West Broadway when she placed her bag on the floor next to her. Two hours later she noticed that her bag had been moved and unzipped, but she didn’t think anything of it at the time. She left the location and checked her bank account and noticed that several unauthorized transactions totaling $707 had turned up. She then checked her bag and realized that her wallet was missing. The items stolen included a Louis Vuitton wallet, a debit card, cash and a U.S. passport.
