Helen Rosenthal will represent the Upper West Side in the City Council for a second term after winning just shy of 87 percent of votes in the Nov. 7 election for her District 6 seat.

Rosenthal won 31,034 votes out of 35,694 total ballots cast, according to unofficial results from the city’s Board of Elections. Republican Hyman Drusin finished second with 10 percent of the vote and Independent Bill Raudenbush finished third with 2.62 percent.

Rosenthal thanked supporters in an election night email, writing that she is “thrilled to be representing you for another four years.”

“It was wonderful to speak with so many of you on the campaign trail about the issues that matter to the Upper West Side,” she wrote. “Your voices will help to shape our work during my second term.”

Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer won a second term with 83 percent of the vote, and in the citywide races, Mayor Bill de Blasio, Public Advocate Letitia James and Comptroller Scott Stringer each won re-election by wide margins. Winning 66 percent of the vote, de Blasio becomes the first Democrat to win consecutive terms as mayor since Ed Koch, who held the office from 1978 to 1989. A New York state ballot measure to hold a constitutional convention was soundly defeated, with 83 percent voting against the proposal.
